MET Gala 5

Every year, on the first Monday of May, fashion royalty and Hollywood's get together in the most outrageous outfits, each trying to out do the next in the absurdity of their wardrobe, and 2017 failed to disappoint!

The MET Gala is an annual fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. The theme for 2017 honoured Comme des Garçon founder Rei Kawakubo.

Today, we get to gawk (and also analyse) some of 2017s best dressed

1. Rihanna

I'm going to write like every other fashion fanatic and put Rihanna first. Always daring, she still manages to top the list of most outrageous every year. She's basically wearing flowers.

2. Katy Perry

Just like Rihanna, Katy Perry is always out to surprise us, and I'm still dealing with the aftershock.

3. Zendaya

Zendaya had what we would deem the most daring look of the evening, not just because she wore yellow (arguably the hardest colour to pull off), but because she broke the golden rule of the Met Gala and dressed outside of theme.

The tropical dress from Dolce and Gabbana featured a parrot print with shades of blue. Her afro was the cherry on top to a positively charismatic ensemble

4. Jaden Smith

Jaden Smith has never been one for rules, but when it comes to the Met Gala, he and his sister Willow are amongst the trailblazers for deliverance.

Smith, ever the genderbender, seems to be one team man-heels, following the footsteps of Justin Bieber.

(Side Note: Jaden chose his severed dreadlocks as an accessory - we're not sure how to feel about that.)

5. Solange

Last year, Solange made a comeback to the music scene with her chart topping album "A Seat at the Table," including two gorgeous music videos.

Solange dropped by with a dress similar to her video and she's one our hearts with it - we would totally borrow this quilted bomber trench (especially since it's winter in the southern hemisphere).
