Green FATIGUE
"we require a human-centred view of the world, rather than an eco-centric view."
~ Austin Williams
Humanity is a volatile, emotive thing. In a world so many can barely get by, personal meaning must be given to things of lesser concern than the next meal.
In South Africa, where so many are rooted in their ethnicity sustainable fashion has yet to tell its story in a way that the majority can resonate. Green Fatigue tells that story in a way that returns visual and spiritual meaning to the people
the story
The collection Green Fatigue is a set of avant-garde works created to help tell the need for sustainable fashion. It is intended to be used as costume in an editorial, film, commercial or exhibition context.

The collection tells of the impact of fast fashion on the earth, by visually representing the death of the earth. It relies of symbols and motifs that are relatable amongst indigenous South Africans, so that they too can tie significant meaning to the earth, rather than feel guilt for being unable to buy sustainably.

The collection also critiques the fashion industry for imposing ethical living onto poverty-stricken societies, without providing them with understandable knowledge about ethical fashion, or making sustainable goods accessible.
